The Derksen Family

I had the privilege of photographing the Derksen family recently up at Entrance Bay. The first I had been up at the lake in what seemed to be too long - none the less, a gorgeous afternoon. Our session was pending upon the usual- nice weather, everyone well (during autumn this is hit and miss). Unlike other sessions though, instead of canceling due to a cold or flu, the Derksen's may have had to cancel due to their youngest son (2 yrs old) Luke's recovery from Chemotherapy and his weakened immune system. Something I had never had to take into consideration with a child I was photographing. Luke was feeling well, it was meant to be.

I have such admiration for Luke's two amazing parents through the journey their family is on right now and the way they are with their children. God's holy spirit is so present.

An article regarding Luke's battle with cancer and the new type of treatment he is taking was recently published in the Vancouver Province, you can read about it here:

Luke will be getting treatments for another 2 years. Please pray for Luke and his family... for the days, weeks, months and years ahead.

Here are some memories of our time together up at Entrance. We all enjoyed the fun... LOTS of laughs... I learned a few things too ;)
